Follow me on my one-week road trip across the island of CYPRUS in February 2017 – visiting Larnaca, Cape Greko, Ayia Napa, Nissi Beach, Nicosia (Lefkosia/Lefkoşa), Troodos Mountains, Paphos, Petra tou Romiou (Aphrodite’s Rock), Kourion, Limassol and Governor’s Beach.
In this second episode, I travel to the southeastern tip of the island of Cyprus, to Cape Greko peninsula, Ayia Napa and Nissi Beach. Cape Greko offers very scenic views, great hiking paths and attractions. There are natural bridges and sea caves to discover. As in most parts of Cyprus, the water quality here is amazing. Expect crystal clear water and windy, fresh, salty air. Ayia Napa, the notorious party town, was pretty much dead in February. I was the only car on the entire parking lot. Most cafés, pubs and restaurants are closed for the season. Not much to do there, except walking along the beautiful beaches. Nissi Beach is often called the most beautiful beach in Cyprus and in February, without any tourists, it certainly was. I enjoyed the white sand, clear water and fresh air – it felt like a picture perfect substitute of the Caribbean. I am sure that I would hate it in summer when this place is overcrowded with thousands of tourists getting wasted.
